Analyst group Frost & Sullivan sees the burgeoning market for telepresence solutions accounting for $4.7 billion in revenues globally by 2014, according to a research report released Wednesday. The analyst firm, in tandem with vendor TANDBERG, said interoperability through open standards would assure that businesses gain utility and value from their telepresence deployments.
The Asia-Pacific region specifically is expected to be a major growth market for telepresence and will account for more than one-third of the total market, or $1.7 billion in revenues, according to Frost and Sullivan. The analyst firm said integrating telepresence solutions with other communication devices, such as other video systems and unified communications applications, is crucial for productivity enhancements.
